FAQs

Does stone break?
Natural stone products are very durable. Regular use of these products will not break the stone. However, there is potential for damage if stones are not properly maintained and cared for. Stone damage may occur as a result of neglect, incorrect cleaning methods and usage of chemicals that are not formulated for stone care. In the event that damage does occur, it can easily be repaired and restored without removal or replacement.

How do I clean it best?
Generally, you can clean stone surfaces with a soapy dishcloth. Regular dishwashing detergent with a neutral base will be sufficient. However, stone soaps are also available. You should use a clean rag mop on floors and a soft cloth for other surfaces for best results. Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids on marble or limestone. Be sure to rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

It is important to note that some stones and different usage of stones may require special cleaning procedures. As professional stone fabricators/installers, we can recommend products and procedures for your specific needs.

How does it age?
As stone ages, it develops unique characteristics that contribute to its natural beauty. Unlike other materials, stone’s elegance enhances with time.

Over time, as with everything, the colours of natural stones will start to fade when exposed to direct sunlight. This is a natural aging process in stones that takes place gradually. With proper care and maintenance, stones will retain its natural colour for many, many years.

As with any other flooring materials, stone floors will also naturally develop marks and scratches over years of use. Unlike other materials, these marks and scratches can be easily repaired and restored in stones.
